A Pitfall Many Find On The Road To Success
Something We Tend To Forget About
When you think about "Success", what are some Words that come to Mind?
Dedication is one I hear Frequently.
You've gotta be Dedicated to the Cause!
Or what about Disciplined?
That word always makes me laugh because I do "Not" consider myself a Disciplined Person.
My Spouse would probably agree...
Nor would I use it to describe the Successful People I know.
What about Hustle?
Oh, that is one I Hate with a Passion.
I've seen Significantly More People Destroy their Lives with "Hustle" than I've Seen People Succeed.
One of the Greatest Cons I've Ever Seen from the Personal Development Industry.
An Awesome Mantra to Cast You Straight into the Firey Pits of Burnout!
But You Know a Word I Rarely See?
One which is Incredibly Important?
A Missing Ingredient
Fun.
Now, I'm not talking about making things a "Party" Every Night...
Getting into Addictions and Stupidity...
That is "Not" the "Fun" I'm talking about.
That "Fun" is a Sure Way to Implosion.
I've seen it Far Too Often.
No, the kind of Fun I am talking about is the Enjoyment of the Process.
This does not mean that Every "Moment" will be "Amazing"!
If you Chase Unicorns and Pots of Gold at the End of Rainbows, you're going to become Disappointed.
Very Quickly.
But Life "Should" be Fun.
We "Should" have Enjoyment.
It's actually Hardwired Into our Being.
As Humans, we Seek things that we Believe are Fun.
Perhaps I should take a Moment to Distinguish that there are 2 Types of "Fun".
The First (Unreliable) Type Of Fun
There is the "Emotional" Fun that we Experience.
This is what "Most" People Think of when it comes to "Fun".
The Moment that you Win the Game.
The Moment you Close the Sale.
The Moment when Feel Good Chemicals are Released into the Brain.
The Problem?
These are All "Moments".
They Do Not Last.
They Disappear.
Gone.
Then, Reality Hits.
The Problem with the "Emotion" of Fun is the Same Problem as Relying on "Any" Emotion.
It is Momentary.
You cannot Sustain a Single Emotion.
Then, if You Attempt to, You'll Discover a "Whole" Book of Potential Psychological Diagnosis.
This is Not the Fun I am Referring to when it comes to Success.
If you Rely on the Emotion of "Fun" for Success, you will Discover that Success is Not Attainable.
However, there is a Second Type of Fun.
The Second (Reliable) Type Of Fun
It is what I would call a Wayset, or a Way of Being.
In the Wayset of Fun, "Everything" should Contribute to the Enjoyment of Your Path.
Even Emotions we Typically Label as "Bad".
The Emotion of Sadness can be Fun in the Wayset of Fun.
So can Pain.
Even Misery.
The Interesting thing about a Wayset is that it does Not Rely on Emotions.
All Emotions Can Contribute Positively to Your Wayset.
You can Experience the Emotion of Struggle, yet have the Wayset of Fun.
My Experience With The Second Type Of Fun With Writing Articles Daily
I Experience this Frequently when I Write.
Even today I Struggled with Writing.
I had No Clue what I wanted to Write About.
My Mind was Feeling Frustration.
I Did Not Experience Glee or Motivation or Dedication or Discipline when I sat to Write.
These Emotions are often Fickle and Allude Me.
But this is what I Understand.
The More I Write, the More I Enjoy Writing.
Perhaps not "In the Moment", but as a Journey.
Yes, I Sit.
I Struggle.
I Get Frustrated.
I Make Errors...
Lots and Lots of Errors...
Oh, So Many Errors...
But I make it Through.
I Laugh at Myself along the Way.
I Find Joy when people say what Inspired Them.
I Find Disappointment when I am Met with Silence.
But within All of these Emotions, I Discover Fun in the Process.
Fun in Discovering New Parts of Myself.
Fun in Pushing Myself Further and Further.
Fun in Seeing How People React.
Though the Emotions Come and Go, the Wayset is Still Enjoyable.
If You Do Not Find the Journey to be Fun, Success Will Allude You.
Do Not Forget About Enjoyment on Your Way.
Find the Fun on the Path to Success.
