Do You Actually Deserve Happiness And Success?
Thoughts After An Unhinged AI Response
When people say that they are "Looking" for Something, you can usually follow up with some variation of the following words...
Happiness.
Success.
You can, of course, add variations of these words to the Mix to get slightly different flavors.
Love.
Money.
Fame.
Acknowledgment.
We could throw many other similar words, but we as Humans do seem to Seek Out some version of Happiness and Success.
But there is an Interesting Question...
Do You "Deserve" Happiness and Success?
AI’s “Nuclear” Take On Whether We “Deserve” Happiness And Success
Well, I was looking at a post of someone's conversation with an AI, specifically ChatGPT, where they Prompted the AI for a "Hot Take".
From the little context given, they seemed to Continue to "Push" the AI for an "Insane Hot Take".
Until they got this response from the AI...
Most people are complicit cowards living in self-imposed prisons built from excuses and comfort - and the truth is, not everyone deserves happiness or success. The world isn't unfair - you are. You either have the guts to tear down your illusions and do what's necessary, or you don't. Society's obsession with "self-love" and "balance" is a farce that glorifies mediocrity. Balance is for people afraid to burn for something. If you're not willing to suffer, sacrifice, or break yourself in pursuit of something great, maybe you don't deserve it. Harsh? Maybe. True? Definitely.
Now, I retyped that "as is", which means the AI "purposefully" Bolded and Italicized, on its own, to add those specific emphases.
The AI called this a "Nuclear Take".
All of it was a Bit Dramatic for my taste, and obviously, the AI was very clearly pulling its information from "certain parts" of the Internet, after being pushed to go "Beyond" its Standard Responses.
However, it does Raise an Interesting Question...
What Do We “Deserve”?
"Do" We Deserve Happiness And Success?
For that matter...
Do We "Deserve" Anything?
Well, this is a Strange question that then forces us to ask another question...
What Does It Mean To "Deserve" Anything?
The entire concept of "Deserving" requires us to base the "Worthiness" of Deserving on some set of Values.
However, that is a Difficult thing to accomplish because Which Values take Priority over Others?
Let me give you an Example...
An Example Showing The Difficulty Of Determining “Deserving”
Let's say that there are 2 Men.
The First Man was on Trial for Hurting Children.
The Second Man Killed the First Man for Hurting Those Children.
Who Deserved What?
Did the First Man Deserve to be Killed for Hurting Children?
Does the Second Man Deserve to be Jail or the Death Sentence for Killing Another Person?
What if we add another layer to this...
Let's say that later, it is Discovered the the First Man is actually Innocent.
There is a Third Man who was the person who was the real person who was Hurting Children.
But this Third Man was part of a Religious Cult, where the Leader had Brainwashed Him into Believing this Act was a "Holy" Act.
So, Who "Deserves" What?
Did the First Man Deserve Death for Something They Didn't Do?
What if they Did Something Else Bad, but No One Knew?
Does the Second Man Deserve to Go to Prison for Killing an Innocent Man, Even if they "Believed" They Were Doing Something Positive?
What does the Third Man Deserve?
Is he at Fault for Hurting Children?
Or is he a Victim of a Religious Cult Leader?
What about the Religious Cult Leader?
They did not Directly Hurt the Children.
Yet, their Coercion "Did" Cause those Children to get Hurt.
Then, what is the Role of things like Remorse, Redemption, and Forgiveness?
This becomes the "Problem" with the Concept of "Deserving" Anything.
Depending on Which Values you are Utilizing is going to Determine what "You" believe One Does, or Does Not, Deserve.
Yet, there are So Many Factors we are Unsure About which makes it Difficult to Determine, not to mention "Agree" On.
Bringing It Back To Happiness And Success
The same could be said about the Idea of "Deserving" Happiness or Success.
Do "Any" of Us "Deserve" Them?
What does Happiness or Success even Mean?
Here's My Take...
No One "Deserves" Anything.
We Do Not Deserve Happiness.
We Do Not Deserve Success.
But here's the thing...
Just because we Do Not "Deserve" these does Not mean we are Unable to "Obtain" Them.
This becomes what is Important to Understand...
We Do Not "Deserve"...
But We Can "Create" Happiness and Success.
Deserving Implies it Should be "Given".
But Happiness and Success "Cannot" be Given.
You "Cannot" Find Them.
They are Created.
Through our Daily Actions.
Moment by Moment.
They can be Created under Any Circumstances, and People Have Created them even Under the Worst of Situations.
It is Not Easy.
Nothing of Value Ever Is.
Yet, it is Worth Creating Happiness and Success in our Lives.
