How Will You End The Day?
What To Do Even On The Worst Of Days
Life is going to happen.
Period.
There are going to Be Highs in Life.
There will also be Lows in Life.
Sometimes you get a bit of Both that happen within the Same Day.
It can feel like a Roller Coaster.
Whiplash.
Flinging You from One Extreme to the Other.
It will Mess with You Emotionally.
Physically.
Spiritually.
It will Test Every Nerve and bit of Resilience that You Have.
Today has been a day like that for me.
My Day Today
Doing work this morning was going really well.
I made Great Progress on the Certifications that I'm working on.
Received a set of Magazines that I was on the Cover of, plus a Trophy and Certificate.
All things were Feeling Good.
But the day was not all good.
I took my Brother-in-Law to one of his Therapies today to help with his Non-Verbal Autism.
He was great at his Appointment.
But after?
He was having a Tough Time.
It became a Bad Day for Him.
He was Frustrated.
Angry.
Irritated.
It can be really difficult because he isn't able to Express his Thoughts.
The Frustration becomes Loud Sounds and Yelling.
Troublesome Behavior.
You try to do what you can, but sometimes it just isn't enough.
You want to help, but it feels Useless.
Powerless.
What makes it worse is that I'm sure that it is so much worse for him.
Some of the things I am Researching I Hope will help him in the Future.
But when you are facing Challenges in the moment, it is Difficult to See the Future.
Wanting to help, but not having the answers yet.
The Immediate Hit of Emotions can be so Difficult.
For me, it hit hardest as Sadness.
Down to the Soul Level.
So what do you Do?
Today’s “Norms” When These Emotions Hit
Well, I know that often, our Emotions have the power to take over.
To Control Us.
To Determine our Course.
To Consume Us Completely.
It can Expand from the Moment to Days and Weeks.
Sometimes people become Chained by their Emotions.
This is the Norm for Most People.
But here's the thing...
Just because something is the "Norm" within our Society does Not mean that it "Should" be the Norm, or that You are Doomed to it.
We Live in a Horribly Sick Society.
As Krishnamurti says...
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."
If we are to Live a Better Life, then perhaps we should ask a Different Question.
A Different Approach
How Will You End The Day?
Emotions are all Signal.
They simply are trying to "Tell" You Something.
When you Understand the Signal, the Emotions Change.
If you have an Emotion that has been Grasping Tightly...
Perhaps it is because You Have Not Fully Understood the Emotion Yet.
What else could the Emotion be Telling You?
For me, the Sadness is an expression of Love.
A Desire to Help.
A Call to Action to Keep Going.
Is it Difficult to Experience the Sadness?
Absolutely.
Yet, having that Love is also one of the Best Experiences.
It can be a Powerful Force for Change.
I have the Power to Choose where to go with this Emotion Now.
I could Lean into the Sadness, the Powerlessness, the Feelings of Being Useless.
Or I could Lean into the Love, the Helpful Nature, the Force for Change.
What To Do When The Hard Emotions Strike
First is Acceptance.
Yes, the is Sadness that Exists.
There are Moments when we are Powerless.
Sometimes, we will be Useless.
That is Ok.
That is to be Human.
Then, we can Grasp our Other Powers as Humans.
Adaptation.
Learning.
Growth.
Then, Move forward from there.
As I finish writing this, I looked at my Brother, and he gave me a Wonderful Smile.
It looks like His Day Got Better Too.
Decide How You Will End Your Day.
