Invisible Impact
One Of The Hardest Aspects Of Creating In Today's World
They say that Creation is of the Most Noble of Deeds One Can Do.
True Creation.
Yet, when you Seek to Actually Create Something in the World Today...
It can Feel Anything but Noble.
It can feel Heart-Wrenching.
You often find yourself Feeling Small and Insecure.
Lonely.
Like Screaming Out into a Void that Absorbs the Sound and Leaves Nothing but Absolute Silence.
Anger might fill you as You Struggle Wondering if Others Even Care.
All the Hard Work.
Effort.
Agony.
Soul-Crushing Stillness.
It's Enough to Make You Question Everything About Yourself.
Your Identity.
Your Path.
Your Life's Work.
When those types of Questions begin to Flood into Your Brain, it is only but a Tiny Shift before you begin to Wonder...
Is it Worth It?
Will there be Any Reward?
If I Continue, Will Anyone Care?
Or am I Simply Doomed to Drown in the Sorrow and Pain that I See in the World?
These types of Questions make it Extremely Difficult for the Creator.
It is Enough to Make You Want to Quit.
Many Do.
Every Single Day there are Creators who Decide that it is the End.
Many More who are Constantly Considering Quitting.
There are Weeks where I have Thought About Quitting Everything that I've Worked Toward.
Years of Studying.
Years of Reading Research Papers.
Years of Writing - Over 800 Days Straight of Daily Articles Now.
What if I Just...
Stopped?
You look at the Crooked Algorithms that Companies Design.
The Frauds and the Thieves that make everything More Difficult.
The Silence.
Not Knowing if Anyone Even Knows You Exist.
It is Simple to See Why One Would Quit.
We, as Humans, have a Desire to Be Impactful.
Want to Make a Difference in the World Around Us.
Want our Creations to Matter.
When You Do Not See It...
It Becomes Difficult.
As they say...
Seeing is Believing.
This becomes one of the Most Difficult Parts of the Creator's Path, and what is Missed by those who Quit...
Invisible Impact.
When you Teach in a Classroom or Present a Creation in a Room, it is Easy to See the Impact that You are Having.
The Faces around you can indicate if people are intrigued or if you're missing something.
When you are on a Stage, it is Harder to See the Faces, but you can still Gauge the Audience with Questions and Listening for Laughs, Applause, Gasps and such.
But when you Create Online?
You Might See Tens...
Hundreds...
Thousands of "Views"...
Followed by Silence.
You're Unsure if Your Creations were Overlooked...
If People were Just Scrolling too Quickly...
If they Looked and Got Bored or Disinterested...
Or if...
Perhaps...
They Loved It but Never Said Anything.
This last Category is the Invisible Impact.
It is likely a Larger Portion of the Views than You May Ever Realize.
It is also Often So Much Deeper of an Impact than You Realize.
You may Never Know which Specific Creations are the Ones that Leave the Impact.
What Percentage.
It is Even Possible that the Creation with the Least Views and Engagement was the One that had the Largest Impact.
Today I was Reminded about the Invisible Impact that I Create.
I was Reading Someone's Article, someone I spoke with a few months ago about a Challenge they were having...
And today, they wrote in their article...
"...Cody told me..."
Months later, and they Carried those words with Them into Today.
Then, I saw another person had Written a Book, and I Congratulated them.
In Response they Said...
"Thank you so much for all your support (Cody). I am intensely grateful. You have no idea."
It was something that I was not expecting.
I'm tremendously Honored though.
The Truth is that Most Days I am Faced with Silence...
Or the Occasional AI Commenter...
But Today I was reminded, Twice, about Invisible Impact.
Here is what you must Prepare Yourself For if you Truly want to Create.
When they say that it is Noble to Create...
It is True.
But it is Noble because you may Never See the Invisible Impact.
The Legacy that You Design.
In Everything that We Do...
People Watch...
Pay Attention.
We Are Exemplars And Create Impact Everywhere We Go.
You May Never See That Impact...
It May Be Invisible...
But it is Still Incredibly Impactful.
Keep Creating.
Be Noble.

Now, why is the Invisible Impact So Difficult for us as Humans?
I actually suspect that this Phenomenon is a Subconscious Reason that Many Leaders made the (Extremely Poor and Ill-Advised) Decision to Force Employees Back into the Office.
Those Leaders could Not Wrap their Brains around the Idea that Impact Could be Made “Outside” of the Office…
Because they could Not “See” the Impact.
Despite a Plethora of Data Proving that Significantly More Impact was Being Made Working from Home…
And the Plethora of Data Since Proving that Returning to Offices was a Terrible Idea.
All, Unsurprising when you look at Psychophysiology.
But today, we’re going to Focus on Why it is So Difficult for us to Believe and Trust the Concept of Invisible Impact.
Let’s Dive In…
