What We Discover Through Facing The Blank Page
Here I sit, looking at the Blank Page.
It is a Strange Thing.
I used to Fear the Blank Page and Struggle to Write Anything.
After 2 Years of Writing, I No Longer Fear the Page.
It has Changed.
There are Still Days when I Struggle to Write.
Many Days if I'm going to be Honest.
But it is Not Fear that Strikes me these Days.
It is a Strange Relationship with the Blank Page.
When I Struggle today, it is a Mixture of Emotion.
On One side of it, there is a Deep Pain looking at the Page and Feeling like having Nothing to Write.
Having a Desire to Provide Something, Anything that could Help Someone.
The Pain of Hoping that whatever comes out on the Page will Shine some Light in the Darkness that Consumes the World.
It makes you Question...
Yourself.
Your Sanity.
Your Commitment.
Do you Really have it in You?
Will your Words ever Reach Others?
Do they Even Care?
Will they just Roll their Eyes?
Or Perhaps Curse Your Words with Vile Malcontent?
Kicking and Stabbing your Heart that you've Laid Out in Hopes of Something Better.
Truly, the Mind Creates what is Perhaps the Most Horrifying of Prisons.
A Cage with No Bars, yet Trapped with Only the Worst of Our Imaginations.
A Colosseum with No Exit against the Nightmares of Your Worst Nightmares.
An Enclosure as Wide and Expansive as the Blank Page Your Stare At.
It can be a Pain Unimaginable.
Yet.
Simultaneously.
The Blank Page is a Source of Power.
An Origin of Unlimited Potential.
Where Anything could Happen.
On the Page We Can Create Worlds.
We can Share the Power of gods.
We can Control the gods themselves.
We can Alter the Past.
Design an Entirely New Future.
Unheard and Unimagined.
But Beyond This, there is so much more.
We can Inspire Others.
We can Provide Puzzle Pieces to Solve the Greatest Problems.
We can Challenge the Impossible and Unchangeable.
Our Words can Expand Beyond Us.
Beyond the Page.
Beyond Today.
Beyond Our Lives.
It can Alter the Course of Others' Lives.
It can Alter the Course of History.
How Amazing is that?
So when You Face the Blank Page...
Which will You Look At?
Which will Come Out?
Will You be Filled with the Power of the Blank Page?
Or Will You be Consumed with the Pain of the Blank Page?
The Truth is that You Will Face Both.
Perhaps One at a Time.
Perhaps Simultaneously.
The Blank Page is a Space of Infinity.
Which makes it Exactly That...
Infinity.
It is All and None of It.
The Pain and the Power.
You are Unable to have One Without the Other.
They are Parts of the Whole.
They Exist Together.
If you Want Access to the Power, You Must Experience the Pain.
To Overcome the Pain, You Must Seek the Power.
These are Inseparable.
These are One.
The Hero is Never Made without the Struggle.
The Struggle Reveals the Potential within the Hero.
The Potential that was Always there, Waiting, Hoping, to be Revealed to the World.
But Unable to be Accessed Until the Monster is Faced.
The Nightmares.
The Dreams.
They All Exist within the Same Source.
The Blank Page is Simply a Medium to Access that Source.
To Access Infinity.
Some call it the Stream of Conscious.
The Flow State.
Being in the Zone.
Where Anything and Everything becomes Possible.
Yes, the Blank Page is Filled with Our Wildest Hopes.
Within it Hides our Darkest Fears.
But through the Blank Page we Discover Something Incredible.
Ourselves.
